New Forest District Council: Pure Town Planning are pleased to have recently secured planning permission for the demolition of one dwelling and the erection of two pairs of contemporary semi-detached dwellings in Milford on Sea.
The four dwellings will occupy a fantastic plot with sea views. Each dwelling has been designed to have their living/kitchen room on the first floor and the master bedroom on the second floor to take advantage of the envious views they will have from the Needles on the Isle of Wight through to Old Harrys Rock in the distance.
There is a lengthy planning history for this site dating back over 10 years with six previous refusals at Local Authority level and four dismissals at appeal. The last appeal however on this site was only dismissed on the failure to provide an Affordable Housing Contribution and the Inspector stated that the design, impact on the surrounding character and appearance and increase in density upon the site were all acceptable. Given the recent legislative changes with Affordable Housing Contributions (May 2016) provided a way forward on this site to deliver the residential development.
Due to the extensive site history and local objections from neighbours, councillors and Town Parish Council, the application was brought before Planning Committee to be determined. On the day, Pure Town Planning presented a thorough deputation highlighting the merits and acceptability of the scheme to Members. Despite objections from a local Councillor and neighbours speaking against the scheme, the members recognised the benefits of the scheme and voted 18-2 in favour of the approval.
