Bournemouth Borough Council: Pure Town Planning have just received another approval, this time for a detached bungalow in Charminster. The site consists of an old workshop set behind two detached houses with only a pedestrian access from the street. The scheme proposed to demolish the existing workshop (which almost filled the unusually shaped plot) and create a new bungalow with small private garden areas.

This was a particularly challenging application partly due to a last minute objection from the Council’s tree officer –  just three days before it was due to be approved! The planning officer already had his “refused” stamp out and many would have accepted the refusal as inevitable and begin preparing for an appeal. But not Matt, who jumped into immediate action. With some swift thinking and team work between Pure Town Planning, Andy Scott of Scott Tree Services and James Whitney from Dot Architecture, a report was submitted, the matter was resolved and the planning officer back on board with a day to spare.

The developers were delighted with the decision stating  “We were very impressed that Pure Town Planning managed to overcome a last minute obstacle so quickly and turned a potential nightmare into a brilliant consent for us”.

Pure Town Planning Director Matt Annen said “It was a classic example of the importance of having a planning consultant on board. The Council sometimes make rash or seemingly unreasonable decisions and it is crucial that developers or homeowners are properly advised and have a consultant working for them to push the application through to an approval no matter what is thrown at them.”
