The Localism Bill has received Royal Asset and as of Tuesday became law. Amongst many provisions relating to local governance and community involvement are a series of tweaks to the planning system including the abolition of regional spatial strategies, introduction of neighbourhood planning, extended powers of enforcement for Local Authorities and a statutory requirement for applicants of certain planning applications to consult communities prior to submission.
