Avonbourne temporary planning permission BournemouthBournemouth Borough Council: Earlier this week Pure Town Planning secured planning permission for the erection of a temporary (3 year) modular school building with new access and parking. This building will act as a temporary feeder school for the larger new Avonwood Primary School which is the subject of a current application. The driving force behind this temporary application (and the full new school proposal) was to provide much needed primary school places in Bournemouth (by 2016 there will be a shortage if new schools are not secured).

The temporary building will house two reception classrooms, 28 place pre-school and associated office space. It is scheduled to open in September this year (2014) so it was crucial that we secured planning permission first time round and within the target date in order that the building can be ordered. The building was designed by local building consultancy Bennington Green who chose a single storey building given the age of the intended occupants and to ensure that the temporary building would be seamlessly incorporated adjacent to the existing built form of Avonbourne College which surrounds the application site to the north and east. The modular design itself was also chosen as it has the advantage of a faster, more cost effective construction compared to a conventional building. This was particularly important given the tight deadlines.

Construction is due to begin shortly. If you have a tight time frame to get planning sorted then don’t hesitate, call Pure Town Planning.
