Sunseeker Operations Director Wayne Moore and College Principal Lawrence Vincent

Borough of Poole: Thanks to Pure Town Planning work is commencing on the new Marine Technology Centre at Bournemouth and Poole College‘s North Road campus this week – because we secured the consent on Friday morning. The new Marine Technology Centre is to provide the college-based learning for the apprentices of Poole-based superyacht builder Sunseeker International.

The College’s time frame on the project is extremely tight with the partnership agreement with Sunseeker only finalised in April but the two buildings required to be completed, fitted-out and staffed ready for the apprentices in September. Luckily the College’s Estates team had Pure Town Planning on board from the outset and we were able to get the planning application submitted to the Borough of Poole the instant we had sufficient information. Of course to avoid delay we had to ensure it was registered first time. It’s the kind of pressure we thrive under and by working very closely with the College and the Council’s planning officer we were able to get the 8-week application approved exactly five weeks after the application cheque was delivered to the Council. Regular readers will note that this beat our previous record for the College by one day (see report here)…

The application had to be approved on Friday morning to allow a protected tree to come down that same afternoon and thus in turn allow contractors to commence work on the foundations this week.

Good luck to The Bournemouth and Poole College with this very exciting collaboration with Sunseeker – here’s hoping for some better weather to help the build run smoothly!
