Borough of Poole: Pure Town Planning were pleased to recently achieve planning consent for alterations and extensions to an existing building to retain existing retail unit and create four residential flats above in Poole’s High Street. The property was within a conservation area and directly adjacent to a Listed Building and this played a major role in the Borough of Poole‘s consideration and thought process. Plans were prepared by local firm Harriplan.

The Council initially had some reservations with the originally submitted plans because the conservation officer felt that the alterations weren’t sympathetic to the adjacent listed building. Following discussions with the planning and conservation officer amendments to the scheme were agreed which created a more acceptable relationship with the adjacent building and in the street scene in general. This overcame the initial concerns and the proposal was subsequently deemed to maintain the character and appearance of the conservation area.

The approved first and second floor flats will provide much needed residential accommodation in a highly sustainable area within Poole High Street, providing easy access to the Quay, public transport and a wealth of retail. commercial and restaurant facilitates on the doorstep.
